The
World Wildlife Fund (WWF)’s organisation in Spain has been awarded the BBVA Foundation’s prize for its work on conservation of Spain’s biodiversity. The panel of judges deciding the winner of the 250,000 euro prize valued WWF España’s innovative and important activities protecting nature.
The judges considered WWF España’s certification of sustainable forestry projects, the effectiveness of its monitoring of subsoil water extraction in Doñana, and its project to create a bluefin tuna marine sanctuary in the Mediterranean, to be particularly outstanding.
